I believe that everyone is born a creative being and that social and cultural conditioning is often what deprograms the innate artist in all of us.
At times throughout my life, I have traveled far from my own center and lost connection to my creative spirit. Dealing with illness and trauma propelled me to heal and transform; creating art has served as the vessel to carry me back to myself.
The beauty and vibrant colors of nature inspire me. I feel emotionally impacted by music, literature and social justice issues. The theme of peace can often be observed in my work.
I use personal photographs in the beginning stages of my paintings and often incorporate the photos into the final painting. I create because it is my natural form of expression. I paint, write, and dance because the process is as important to me as the air I breathe.
